About Me

My Experience

After a brief flirtation with retail management with House of Fraser I found my niche in Personnel and Training.  In the mid 70s I joined the NHS where I was responsible for 6500 employees with a budget with a lot of 000s on the end of it. We designed and delivered induction training to retirement planning courses and anything in between.  I first heard of TMI when a fellow Committee member of The Institute of Personnel and Development invited me to attend a Time Manager workshop  I was so impressed by both the trainer and the training that I used TMI for a high profile project funded by the Department of Health. The project was a huge success and I was so enthused that I joined TMI in 1987 as a Consultant. I have worked in both the private and public sector with clients such as British Airways, Cunard, Sony, Virgin, Atlantis Hotels and one close to my Yorkshire roots Harry Ramsdens!

What I do at TMI

I deliver outstanding training programmes.  My three areas of expertise are service excellence, powerful presentations and performance coaching. My vast experience in these areas is both theoretical and practical.  Since 1997 I have sharpened up my customer service skills as I opened up my first bridal retail shop and since then the group has grown to become the fifth largest independent bridal retailer within the UK.

What do I bring to Clients

A constant supply of fresh experiences and ways of applying theory and knowledge.  An ability to quickly make a client’s culture mine and part of my DNA.  I know that I am delivering a great programme when delegates say “Are you sure you’ve never worked for us.  You know so much about us!”  That truly is a “Yes” moment for me.

When I’m not working...

Enjoying becoming a mother at 50.  We adopted our daughter from China in 2005 and I try to keep up with her by learning Mandarin and she loves correcting my tones.  I get to impress her by teaching her French and Spanish and it keeps me fluent (well fluentish) in these languages.  Family holidays with just the three of us are coveted whether it be skiing in the Alps or lazing on a Caribbean beach. Entertaining at home translated as Robin cooking and me talking with a glass of fizz!  My greatest achievement (apart from our daughter Isabella) was becoming a Master Practitioner of NLP.
